General Policy 6
General Policy 6 of the Isle of Man Strategic Plan 2007 permits external advertisements on the site or building to which they relate if they are high standard of design and materials, relate well to the building/site, are in keeping and do not detract from the surrounding area, and are located so as not to cause highway safety hazard. The officer assessed the signage as corporate identification normal for a commercial area with acceptable impact, relating well to the industrial site, in keeping with surroundings, and no safety issues raised by Highways.
Time limit
The development hereby permitted shall be commenced before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice.
Maintenance of advertisements
Any advertisements displayed, and any site used for the display of advertisements, shall be maintained in a clean and tidy condition to the reasonable satisfaction of the Department.
Structural safety
Any structure or hoarding erected or used principally for the purpose of displaying advertisements shall be maintained in a safe condition.
Removal of advertisements
Where an advertisement is required under these Regulations to be removed, the removal shall be carried out to the reasonable satisfaction of the Department.
Site owner permission
No advertisement is to be displayed without permission of the owner of the site or any other person with an interest in the site entitled to grant permission.
No obstruction of traffic signs
No advertisement shall be sited or displayed so as to obscure, or hinder the ready interpretation of any traffic sign, railway or tramway signal or aid to navigation by water or air, or so as to render hazardous the use of any highway, railway, tramway, harbour or aerodrome.
Approved plans
This approval relates to the location plan, site plan, signage specification and photograph date stamped the 21st August 2009.
