Environment Policy 35
Requires development within Conservation Areas to preserve or enhance the character or appearance of the area. The Inspector assessed the sculpture against this, finding its design poignant and relevant to local RNLI heritage would enhance the character amid regeneration works. The Planning Division and Conservation Officer agreed it could improve the area's appearance.
Environment Policy 43
Supports proposals to regenerate run-down urban areas, set in context of Area Plan strategies. Applied to ongoing Ramsey Regeneration Plan including prior approvals for paving, street furniture and landscaping; the sculpture seen as continuing these environmental improvements.
General Policy 2
Permits development in accordance with land-use zoning and other policies if it respects site/surroundings in siting, scale, design; does not adversely affect townscape, amenity, highways, flooding etc. Deemed relevant by Planning Division but not specifically tested by Inspector beyond general compliance.

Time limit
