DEFA Biodiversity is mostly content with submitted details for landscaping and green roof conditions but requests clarification on herbicide/fertiliser use and re-wilding intentions; Building Control has no issues with the provided drawings.
Key concern: inconsistent references to herbicide and fertiliser use near Marine Nature Reserve
DEFA Biodiversity
Conditional No Objectionherbicide use is not permitted due to proximity of Marine Nature Reserve - which is what we believe was agreed. However, other sections of the schedule talk about application of herbicides, such as on page 14 - HERBICIDE FOR ALL GRASS AREAS etc.; This should also apply to fertilisers for the same reason (potential impact on the MNR).; What do the applicants actually mean by this? This same area is shown on the Landscape Masterplan as a proposed lawn area to be turfed 50% common bent & 50% creeping red fescue mix, so it is not clear what the intention is.
Conditions requested: Sections referring to herbicide application should be changed to confirm no use on site; References to fertiliser use should be removed for same reason as herbicides (potential impact on MNR); Clarification or details on how the western-most grass area is to be re-wilded
Building Control
No ObjectionI have no issues with the information provide in the two drawings as attached and stated below.; Any additional information will be covered in there Building Control submission.
