The key issue was the potential impacts upon the visual amenities of the street scene, as the properties are apparent from Ballacrosha Road.
General Policy 2
General Policy 2 permits development in accordance with land-use zoning if it respects the site and surroundings in terms of siting, layout, scale, form, design; does not adversely affect townscape character or local amenities; and meets other listed criteria. The officer assessed the chimney removal against this, focusing on visual amenities of the street scene, and found it appropriate and in keeping with the character and appearance of the properties. No tensions or non-compliances were identified.
