1.0 THE SITE 1.1 The site is the Greenhill Data Centre, Isle Of Man Business Park, Douglas.

2.0 The PROPOSAL 2.1 The proposed is the installation of an illuminated signage at the side of the entrance.
2.2 The signage will be a dark blue narrow vertical box. There will be illuminated logo of Manx Telecom and the data centre as well as the words for these two entities.
3.0 PLANNING HISTORY 3.1 There is no previous application considered materially relevant to this application.
4.0 PLANNING POLICY Site Specific 4.1 The site is within an area designated as Industrial in the Area Plan for the East.
Strategic Policy 4.2 The Isle of Man Strategic Plan 2016 contains the following policies that are considered materially relevant to the assessment of this current planning application: o General Policy 2 (b) (g) (i) (m) (n)
o General Policy 6, 7 o Community Policy 7
PPS and NPD 4.3 There is no relevant Planning Policy Statement or National Policy Directive that applies to this application.
5.0 OTHER MATERIAL CONSIDERATIONS Legislation 5.1 Regulation 5 of the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisement) Regulations 2013 states that the control of advertisement is only in the interest of amenity and public safety, in particular general characteristics of the locality, the safety of any person who may use the highway and potential obscuration of any traffic sign or signals.
6.0 REPRESENTATION 6.1 Braddan Council has not commented at the time of the report (14.03.2023).
6.2 DoI Highway Services states it does not oppose this application (08.03.2023). The comment states that there is no significant negative impact upon highway safety, network functionality and/or parking.
7.0 ASSESSMENT 7.1 The key considerations in the determination of the application is its impact on the character and streetscene of the area.
7.2 The proposed illuminated signage is simplistic, it is considered that it would not negatively impact the character of the building or the streetscene. The content is also directly related to the business. Therefore, the design is considered acceptable.
7.3 As Highway Services does not object to this proposal, it is considered that there is no impact on highway safety.
8.0 CONCLUSION 8.1 The proposal is considered to comply with General Policy 2 and General Policy 6 of the Strategic Plan. Therefore, it is recommended for an approval.
9.0 INTERESTED PERSON STATUS
