Dear Madam,
PA 08 / Additional Street Light, The Promenade, Laxey
This proposal is unsustainable.
It is to be sited to opposite a picnic area the lighting up of which at night time is of no use whatsoever to man or beast.
If an additional light were to be inserted it should be on the other side of the road adjacent to the steps on the public footpath, public toilets, dog parlour, and beach huts where it might actually be of some use to the general public and ratepayers of Laxey.
As with other poles and signs on the promenade it will be an obstruction to pedestrians, and attraction to dogs and unsightly.
Moreover, to be sustainable it should be attached to the existing lighting scheme, not that proposed since its provision as proposed which merely duplicates the existing. The proposal just for one street light will cost around £5000 of ratepayers money to add to the £45000 plus which the rest of the scheme will cost if it goes ahead.
Yours faithfully, Patricia S. Newton copy to Laxey Village Commissioners
