Environment Policy 35
ENV35 states: 'Within Conservation Areas, the Department will permit only development which would preserve or enhance the character or appearance of the Area, and will ensure that the special features contributing to the character and quality are protected against inappropriate development.' The officer tested the replacement door against this, finding the proposed PVC elements fail to replicate the intricate detailing of the existing timber door and surround, a special feature adding to the dwelling's character typical of its age. This made the development inappropriate for the Peel Conservation Area.
