Planning Circular 1/98 (windows replacement policy)
Policy requires that in buildings visible from public thoroughfares built before 1921, where originals are absent, replacement windows in principal elevations should have the same method of opening, pattern/section of glazing bars, and frame sections as originals. The officer assessed that the proposed uPVC casements, while not matching the original sliding sash opening, replicate the glazing bar layout and improve on existing non-original timber casements of no merit, making it acceptable.
