In pursuance of powers granted under the above Act and Order the PLANNING COMMITTEE of the Department of Local Government and the Environment does hereby REFUSE the following application made on behalf of:
Name: Callows Yard Developments Limited Proposal: Alterations and extensions to 11 and 13 Malew Street to provide retail at ground and first floor and apartment above, including demolition of rear and part of front elevation and rebuilding 13 Malew Street, Ancillary works to the rear of 9,11,13 and 15 Malew Street to link with Callows Yard Development (as approved under PA 05/01539B) at: 9 To 15 Malew Street Castletown Isle of Man IM9 1AB
which was considered on 15th November 2007, for the reasons set out below.

Reason(S) For Refusal:
- Whilst the scheme may result in the Malew Street properties integrating more successfully within the overall scheme, the loss of number 13 Malew Street is not justified and its replacement with a building which is taller and with dormer windows would not enhance the Conservation Area in which the property is situated, contrary to the provisions of Planning Policy Statement 1/01.
This decision was made by the Planning Committee constituted in accordance with Article 3(1) of the Town and Country Planning (Development Procedure) Order 2005.

- Any appeal has been determined;
Whichever is the later.
Any appeal against this decision must be in writing and must be received by this Department within 21 days of the date of this notice.
