Planning Circular 1/98 paragraph 6 (replacement windows in Conservation Areas)
The policy requires that in Conservation Areas, if original windows cannot be repaired, replacements visible from public thoroughfares must have the same method of opening, pattern and section of glazing bars, and frame sections as the originals. The officer assessed that the proposed windows differed from existing ones in these respects. This was a key barrier to progressing the application.
