Windows.
The proposal is to replace the existing windows due to their continuing deterioration in an area of high weather exposure and to improve certain detailing, in particular to the area of the sills where the windows are currently bedded directly into the walls.
This is illustrated on the accompanying photographs.
The intention is to also facilitate the introduction of double glazing in order to reduce energy loss.
In order to have minimal impact on the integrity of the Registered building the replacement windows would be in an appropriate timber using the same sections and where possible the same detailing as the originals.
The window opening pattern would be as that existing and is demonstrated in the accompanying sketch.
The finished colour would be in black.
To ensure authenticity, a typical sample of the proposed replacements would be prepared both for approval by the client and for examination by the Conservation Officer.
It is suggested that, if the Application were Approved then this could be subject to a Relevant Planning Condition.
Door.
As shown, the existing door is incongruous both in material and colour. The intention is to replace it with a timber door of the same material as the windows and finished also in black. Consideration has been given to alternative designs including the introduction of subdivision into separate panes. It is however considered that the current single pane is more relevant to the character of the building and reflects the glazing principle of the existing windows.

Replacement windows to the later extension will follow the same principles applied to the original house. Extent of Property subject of Application. The section illustrated shows the original Baillie Scott house and highlights the incongruous rear door, both in design and colour.
All windows are to be replaced by ones in good quality wood. Which will replicate the existing in both design and detailing. And also be coloured black.
