Officer's Report
The Application Site
The property 5 East Street, Ramsey, is part of a row of three storey terrace properties which is located on the western side of Easy Street.
Planning Policy
The application site is within an area recognised as mixed use (town centre), under the Isle of Man Planning Scheme (Ramsey Local Plan) (No. 2) Order 1998, hereafter referred to as the Ramsey Local Plan. The site is within the Ramsey Conservation Area.
Proposal
The application proposes the installation of a replacement shop front.
Representations
Ramsey Town Commissioners:- No comments received
We have received no privately written representations objecting to the application.
Assessment / Recommendation
As the property is within a Conservation Area I have discussed the application with the Conservation Officer, which he has no objection. I consider the proposal to be an improvement to the frontage of the property due to a more traditional design, compared to the existing, and therefore I believe the proposal would have a positive impact upon the street scene.
For this reasons the proposal would seem appropriate in this location and therefore my recommendation is for an approval.
Party Status
I consider that the following meet the criteria of Government Circular 1/06 and should be afforded interested party status:
The Ramsey Commissioners Highways Division
