Officer's Report

The site represents the curtilage of Ballasalla Primary School which is situated towards the south of Clagh Vane residential estate in the middle of Ballasalla. The site is designated as Primary School on the Isle of Man Planning Scheme (Development Plan) Order 1982.

Proposed here is the installation of disabled persons’ access ramps and handrails on existing external doors on the west, north and south of the building and the widening of an existing doorway on the eastern elevation.

The existing building is a modern, flat-roofed structure on which the proposed installations will not look out of place.

Malew Parish Commissioners indicate that they have no objection to the proposal.

Department of Transport Drainage Division raise no objection subject to the imposition of a condition which protects the existing sewerage which runs through the site.

C 1. The development hereby permitted shall commence before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice.

C 2. This permission relates to the installation of access ramps and handrails and the alterations to existing doors as shown in drawings D01, D02A, D03 and D04 all received on 16th December, 2005.

C 3. Prior to the commencement of work on site, the line of the existing sewerage must be identified and all sewers protected during the course of construction. No part of the proposed development may be carried out within 3m of any sewer.
