Defer for site visit.
Site visited 3/9/04. From the frontage to Michael Street the new flue will not be visible at all. The rear yard is however a communal yard shared by others who may be affected by the operation of the flue. Defer for consultation with Environmental Health.
Additional
Simon Renton (Noise Specialist) and I visited the site and spoke to the owner. The premises are currently being renovated and the new flue forms part of these renovations. Previously the extraction system was only a simple domestic extraction fan into the wall. The new ventilation ducting will significantly improve this situation but will involve a stack to the rear of the building which will extend up to and just over the roof slope. It is judged that the conservation area would not be affected by the flue.

C 1. The development hereby permitted shall commence before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice.
C 2. This approval relates to drawing numbers DD1, DD2 and DD3 submitted on 13th July 2004.
C 3. The rating level of the noise emitted from the fan and associated ducting, shall not exceed LAeq, 1 hour - 40 dB daytime (0700 - 2300) and LAeq, 5 minute - 30 dB night time (2300 - 0700) as measured at the façade to the window of any neighbouring residential premises.
C 5. The duct terminal to the kitchen extract system shall be located 1m above the roof as located on plan Drawing DD1 dated 12/07/04 to aid dispersion of odour.
N 4. The rating level shall be measured and calculated in accordance with BS 4142:1997.
I confirm that this decision accords with Government Circular No 57/01 (Delegation of Functions to Director of Planning and Building Control).
