In pursuance of powers granted under the above Acts and Order the Department of Local Government and the Environment does hereby REFUSE the application made by you
Proposal: Temporary change of use of land for the storage of vehicles in association with an off site car hire/ sales business at: Carerra (Cranage) Sir Georges Bridge Abbeylands Douglas IM4 5EH which was considered on 6 May 2004, for the reasons set out in the attached schedule. Reasons For Refusal
Application Ref No: 03/01592/C
- The site is located in a rural area where development including commercial usage is not generally encouraged. The use of the site for the parking of a relatively large number of vehicles would be contrary to the designation of the site as Open Space and from the limited places where the vehicles could be seen, the sight of the vehicles is out of keeping with the rural area.
- The access to the site from Sir George's Bridge and the road network serving the area in general is not suitable for the additional traffic which would be generated by the use of the site as proposed. In addition, the access to the site from Sir George's Bridge is narrow and passes another private residential property whose amenities and access would be adversely affected by the use of the site as proposed.
NOTE As the use has commenced and permission denied, the vehicles must be removed from the site and the site used only as part of the residential curtilage of "Carrera" within one month of the date of this notice as it becomes final.
NOTE This decision was made by the Planning Committee constituted in accordance with Paragraph 2 of Schedule 1 of the Isle of Man Planning Scheme (Development Plan) Order 1982.
