The officer considered the proposal against Energy Policy 4 of the Isle of Man Strategic Plan 2007, which supports solar panels judged against environmental objectives.
Environment Policy 4
Energy Policy 4 states: 'Development involving alternative sources of energy supply, including wind, water and tide power, and the use of solar panels, will be judged against the environmental objectives and policies set out in this Plan.' The officer assessed the solar panels against this policy and the site's High Landscape or Coastal Value designation, finding the modest design and siting sufficient to protect visual amenities without needing an EIA.
Time limit
The development hereby permitted shall commence before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice.
