1.00 Planning Statement
1.01 An application was submitted on 16.08 .08 No. 08/01186/B. The application was refused at the meeting of the 17.09 .08 . 1.02 An appeal hearing was held and the Independent Inspector recommended that the original decision be upheld. 1.03 In his assessment the Inspector considered that the front dormer and its impact on the streetscene was the main issue. 1.04 The present scheme seeks to address these concerns by reducing the size and changing the design of the dormer to reflect similar dormers within Spinney Close, i.e., smaller and with hipped roofs. 1.05 To compensate for the subsequent loss of light, two small Velux rooflights have been introduced, one to the front (Spinney Close) elevation and one to the east elevation. 1.06 The rear terraces shown on the original planning application, both to the rear garden, one at ground floor and one at first floor are retained, it is noted that these did not receive either objection or adverse comment at the appeal hearing.
