In pursuance of his powers under the above Act and Order, the Minister for Infrastructure, the Hon P A Gawne MHK, does hereby in the name of and on behalf of the Department DECLINE CONSENT to planning application 13/01352/D by PH Isle of Man Limited for Erection of illuminated and non-illuminated advertising signage at 1, 3 and 5 Walpole Avenue, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM1 2LT, for the following reason(s):
- The proposal is contrary to the provisions of General Policy 6 and Environment Policy 37 of the Isle of Man Strategic Plan 2007 in that the proposed signage, by reason of its size and design, illumination and the visual dominance of the fascia background in terms of its colour, format and lettering size, would be at odds with its immediate surroundings and in particular with the retained Victorian appearance of the building and would thus fail to preserve or enhance the Douglas Promenades Conservation Area.
Date of issue: 3 December 2014
