The proposal is contrary to the provisions of General Policy 6 and Environment Policy 37 of the Isle of Man Strategic Plan 2007 in that the proposed signage, by reason of its size and design, illumination and the visual dominance of the fascia background in terms of its colour, format and lettering size, would be at odds with its immediate surroundings and in particular with the retained Victorian appearance of the building and would thus fail to preserve or enhance the Douglas Promenades Conservation Area.
