The officer considered the main issue to be whether the proposed development would increase the impact of the non-traditional building as viewed by the public, per Housing Policy 16 of the Isle of Man…
Housing Policy 16
Housing Policy 16 states: 'The extension of non-traditional dwellings or those of poor or inappropriate form will not generally be permitted where this would increase the impact of the building as viewed by the public.' The officer tested the west elevation extension against this in the sensitive High Landscape Value and Scenic Significance area, judging it compliant as it adds interest without increasing bulk, massing, height or width, and integrates with existing approved development.
Time limit
The development hereby permitted shall commence before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice.
