REF Planning Application for private stables in my field adjacent to Perk Cottage
Dear Sir/Madam
We forward a planning application to erect a barn type building for private stabling & general equestrian storage within my field 514332 off Knock Froy Lane in Santon. The field proposed is under my ownership & I have no particular use for it, although the grass has been cultivated for use as haylage by a friend – this would remain to use within this yard if approved.
I am applying for this application, as my son & his family (3 girls & a boy) are moving over to the island, with their ponies, horsebox & associated equipment. Using the rule of thumb : 1 horse per acre, we believe the field can comfortably accommodate our family equestrian needs.
The building has been carefully considered, we have researched other similar approved structures locally & we hope to follow the idea of having a building sized to accommodate all the needs – feed storage, tack, stabling for up to four ponies & under cover storage for the tractor, horsebox & our other general equipment : poo picker, quad, trailer etc – really necessary due to the sea air / coastal environment. The design is we believe typical of an agricultural style building, we apply to use a green colour profiled external sheeting, but will be happy to discuss alternatives if required.
Happy to answer any questions, we hope the department will look favorably on our proposal.
Regards
David Salkeld
