Requires proposals to protect or enhance the individual character of towns. The officer assessed that the window replacements preserve the fenestration pattern contributing to the building's and terrace's character.

Strategic Policy 4

Requires protection or enhancement of the fabric and setting of buildings in Conservation Areas. The amended scheme replicates existing designs, preserving the special character.

Environment Policy 34

Prefers traditional materials in alterations to pre-1920 buildings. uPVC accepted as modern alternative suitable for the location despite timber preference.

Environment Policy 35

Permits only development preserving or enhancing Conservation Area character, protecting special features. Proposal meets this by replicating fenestration, avoiding harm to Promenade frontage character.

General Policy 2

Permits development respecting site/surroundings in scale, form, design and not adversely affecting townscape (criteria b and c). Amended windows respect character without adverse impact.
