Hi Daniel
In regards to the proposals for the wildflower meadow. Can you get more information from the applicant about what this actually means? They have not supplied a species list, or are they just intending on managing the existing wildflowers? And they have not included a management regime, which they should as this is very important for the establishment and maintenance of wildflower areas. I think the area is suitable and could colonise with the plants from the adjacent species rich grassland but they just need to be careful and I would not like to see any seed mixes used in this area, so more details are required
I am also concerned because the section on shrub and hedge planting mentions the use of glyphosate and removal of all vegetation underneath the shrub and hedge planting. This is unnecessary and could also damage surrounding habitat, especially where they are planting the Manx hedge. I hope the use of glyphosate is not also intended for the wildflower area...?
Best wishes
Sophie
