Subject: Braddan Commissioners - Planning Applications - 20 April 2017
Dear All,
The Commissioners considered the following applications at their meeting on 6 April 2017 and it was unanimously resolved that they had no objections to them:
The Commissioners wish to object to the following applications:
PA17/00420/B - Mr A Rapson - Erection of a two-storey self-contained residential dwelling with associated parking on land adjacent to existing dwelling - Parcel of land adjacent to Crovie House, Main Road, Union Mills. The Commissioners wish to comment on the above application as it raises concerns with them. In particular, looking at GP2(b), they feel it does not respect the site and surroundings in terms of the siting, layout, and the spaces around the proposed building. There is an indication that there would be a loss of trees which would be contrary to GP2(f) and GP2(g) as they feel it would adversely affect the amenity and character of the locality. The Commissioners feel that it would create an unacceptable loss of or damage to woodland areas contrary to EP3 and is seen as inappropriate backland development which is contrary to EP42.
PA17/00422/B - Mr & Mrs G Iball - Erection of fence - 33 Hollin Bank, Tromode Woods, Braddan, IM4 4TT
The Commissioners wish to comment on the above application as it raises a concern with them. They have noted that the hedgerow has already been removed, and whilst it was poorly maintained, it was in keeping with the estate in general.
The Commissioners have been led to understand, although not officially confirmed, that there is a general covenant on the estate banning high fences.
In this matter, they wish to install a 1.8m fence adjacent to a main road, which would not be in keeping with the remainder of the estate and could affect the character of the surrounding area in contravention of GP2(c).
I trust the above meets with your Committee's approval.
Best regards, Gill
