Mr Ian Longworth Director of Public Transport Transport Headquarters Banks Circus Douglas IM1 5PT
24th March 2017
Dear Mr Longworth,
I would like to introduce myself as the new Secretary for the Manx Transport Trust, having assumed this position last year following the sudden death of Professor Roger Carey.
The Manx Transport Trust has recently acquired the former Ramsey Harbour crane for display at the Jurby Transport Museum. The crane is currently stored within the compound at the rear of the museum in a disassembled condition. Once it has been restored, painted and reassembled, we intend to display it outside the front of the museum as a "Gate Guardian". The attached diagram identifies the position of where we wish to display the crane.
A requirement of the planning application is that the owner of the premises, The Department of Infrastructure, is aware of the proposed development. As you are the "Responsible Person" on behalf of the Government, I am now writing to formally advise you about the "Manx Transport Trust's intention."
It would be appreciated if you would confirm in writing that you are aware of our intentions and support, or do not support, the proposal to site the crane outside the museum.
I look forward to receiving your reply.
Yours sincerely,
David Handscombe
Secretary

Dear David
Thank you for your letter of 24th March. I confirm that the Department supports your application for the crane to become a gate guardian.
Perhaps when you have settled in to your new role you could arrange to come and have a chat with me. Marieanne, my PA, can arrange a suitable appointment.
