Environment Policy 32
Requires that extensions or alterations to a Registered Building do not detrimentally affect its special architectural or historic interest. The officer assessed the signage against this, concluding it is of high quality, in-keeping with the proposed shop front, would enhance the building, and not undermine its special interest.

Permits advertisements in Conservation Areas only if they preserve or enhance the area, use appropriate style and traditional materials, and exclude internally illuminated box fascia and projecting box signs. The signage did not strictly comply as it is illuminated, but was accepted as it improves on the existing signage and achieves the objective of enhancing the Conservation Area.
