Housing Policy 15
HP15 states that extensions or alterations to traditionally styled properties in the countryside will normally only be approved where they respect the proportion, form, and appearance of the existing property, with permission only exceptionally for extensions over 50% floor space. The officer applied this to the vernacular farmhouse, which has traditional character despite some modern elements, finding the 25% extension respects the existing building by streamlining styles and pitches. This outweighed HP16's presumption against extending non-traditional properties, as the overriding character is traditional.
