General Policy 2
General Policy 2 of the Isle of Man Strategic Plan 2007 permits development in accordance with land-use zoning and other policies provided it respects the site and surroundings in terms of siting, layout, scale, form, design and landscaping (b); does not adversely affect the character of the surrounding landscape or townscape (c); does not adversely affect amenity of residents or character of locality (g); and does not unacceptably affect road safety or traffic flows (i). The officer tested the proposed door against these criteria, finding it sat adjacent to an existing window, used complementary materials to Manx stone, and was appropriate in scale and design with no adverse impacts, thus fully complying.
