hours of operation should be controlled in accordance with the proposed hours
Isle of Man Constabulary raised concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour from late-night takeaway use and recommended restricting trading hours; Highways Division do not oppose the application.
Key concern: takeaway premises acting as 'honey pots' increasing crime and anti-social behaviour
Isle of Man Constabulary
Conditional No ObjectionResearch has shown that takeaway type premises act as 'honey pots.' They cause persons to remain in the area for an inordinate period of time increasing the opportunities for criminal or anti-social behaviour, especially during the evenings and late night.; I would therefore strongly recommend that the trading hours are controlled and that the following condition be placed upon any approval granted in respect of the said application.
Conditions requested: trading hours controlled to Monday-Thursday 9am till 23.30hrs and Friday - Saturday 9am till 00.30hrs and Sunday 10.30am till 22.30hrs
Department of Infrastructure Highways Division
No ObjectionDo not oppose; the proposed use is located adjacent to other similar and retail uses who will all benefit from the same type of service vehicle provision in terms of delivery and refuse collection, the proposals are considered acceptable from a highways aspect.
