Description: Widening of existing vehicle access and creation of hardstanding
Highways Comments:
The proposal is acceptable in highway terms:
The widening of the access is achieved on removing the pillar and section of the wall and would require an
extension of the existing dropped crossing of the footway under a s109(A) Highway Agreement. There is
adequate visibility for a low speed road, being no worse than existing; although the splays are drawn
inaccurately. As speeds are likely to be below 20mph, a shorter set back and extent would be acceptable at 2 x
17m in each direction equivalent to speeds of 15mph.
The creation of hard standing would allow for additional off-street parking and meet the Strategic Plan parking
standards and a more practical arrangement. Surface water should drain into the site or the hard standing
surface be of a porous material.
As the proposal raises no significant highway safety or network efficiency issues, Highway Services raise no
opposition subject to conditions for access, and vehicle areas to accord with the submitted drawings. An
advisory for a s109(A)agreement to apply too.
