The officer assessed the proposal against General Policy 2 of the Isle of Man Strategic Plan, finding it acceptable in the school-zoned location as it respects site surroundings, provides safe access …
General Policy 2
Requires development in zoned areas to respect siting/scale, avoid adverse landscape/resident amenity/traffic impacts, ensure access/parking/services, and consider safety/energy. Officer tested against school playground site: low scale temporary cabins screened by fence/trees; parking via school/nearby estate spaces adequate for local users; no traffic safety harm; minimal playground loss acceptable.
Community Policy 2
Requires new facilities to serve local population accessibly to non-car users, preferably reusing buildings. Officer confirmed compliance via central location adjacent to school/residences/bus stops, fenced separate entrance for concurrent school use, and pedestrian-focused local users replacing prior facility.
