Memo produced 06.04.2018 Representation from the Department of Infrastructure (DOI) Highways Division- PA Ref 18/00222/B Planning Case Officer = Mr S Butler Applicant Hospice Isle Of Man Agent - Cornerstone Architects Site Address Hospice Isle Of Man Strang Douglas Isle Of Man IM4 4RP Highway Services Comment made Do not oppose Highways Representation history for this case. DNO on 6-4-18 Conditions (if any) The proposal is to amend the existing site car park to provide 22 additional spaces for staff and visitor parking. The application states that there are 95 existing car parking spaces on the site and the development would result in a total of 117 spaces being made available. 2 of the new spaces would be for permit holders only and 1 would be 3.6m wide which is wide enough for use as a disabled bay. The standard bays would be of a sufficient size of 2.5m x 5m and all would be adjacent to an aisle width of at least 6m which is adequate for vehicles to manoeuvre in and out of the bays. The turning head to the rear of the site would be maintained as at present. Some of the new bays would be accessed via the existing car park access, with 18 of the new bays served from the existing access road to the side of the building which provides access to the rear. The access road would be at least 5m wide which is wide enough for 2 cars to pass each other, and its junction with the road serving the main hospital site has adequate highway visibility as observed on site. Highway Services carried out a site visit at 3:40pm on Tuesday 20/3/18 and observed that there were only a few standard spaces available but the disabled parking bays were free. It is anticipated that at busier times all the spaces could be used. Highways Officer
