General Policy 2
General Policy 2 from the Isle of Man Strategic Plan 2007 requires development not to adversely affect the character of the dwelling or surrounding area. The officer found the uPVC replacement acceptable in this residential area as it would not harm character due to the non-original existing windows and varied street designs.
Planning Circular 1/98, Category d) OTHER BUILDINGS ERECTED BEFORE 1921, Policy 8
Policy requires replacement windows to preferably match originals in glazing bars pattern, but allows a relaxed approach if pattern is retained. Assessed for pre-1921 dwelling outside Conservation Area; existing windows not original, so simplified uPVC design without full glazing bars was acceptable without changing historic features.
Time limit
The development hereby permitted shall commence before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice.
