Guidance on replacement windows in Conservation Areas
Policy applies to buildings in rural settings whose principal elevations are visible from public thoroughfares, preferring repair of original windows or replacement matching original method of opening, glazing bars, and frame sections. For non-principal elevations not readily visible, same glazing pattern preferred but opening method flexible. Officer assessed that proposal retains original sliding sash form, has outward appearance of originals, and matches required detailing, making it compliant despite uPVC material.
