Dear Sirs
Thank you for advising us of the appeal regarding Leyton, Victoria Road, Douglas.
We would like to make the following comment to be included at the hearing:-
We wish to object to the appeal against the construction of two new houses to
replace Leyton.
This property is now a registered building and the applicant’s appeal to deregister
was refused. In view of this we cannot understand how this application is even
being considered and being forwarded to the Cabinet Office. Surely the owners
should, in fact, be under instruction to remedy the neglect suffered by the property
over recent years.
Our original views still stand in that it is a beautiful property with considerable
architectural heritage. We live a hundred yards away in a registered Baillie Scott
house and feel that Leyton contributes to the Arts and Crafts architecture of the
entire Island.
Please save this superb historic building and refuse the application. Thank you.
