Environment Policy 22
Prohibits development unacceptably harming environment or neighbouring amenity. Assessed as compliant due to minimal visual impact from screening and no amenity harm.
Energy Policy 4
Supports alternative energy sources subject to Strategic Plan policies. Small-scale domestic solar PV accords with general support for renewables per Paragraph 12.2.8.
General Policy 3
Allows exceptions for development in unzoned land, but solar panels do not fit categories; outweighed by renewable energy policies.
General Policy 2
General development control considerations; proposal acceptable in principle and appearance.
Environment Policy 1
Protects countryside and ecology; openness and rural character not undermined due to screening.
Environment Policy 14
Restricts loss of agricultural land unless overriding need; no change in designation, compatible with solar grazing.
Strategic Policy 1
Requires best use of resources; aligns with renewable energy strategy.
Time limit
The development hereby approved shall be begun before the expiration of four years from the date of this decision notice.
Removal if unused
In the event that the solar panels and the support units hereby approved are no longer used or required for renewable and alternative energy generation for a period exceeding 12 months, they shall be removed and the ground restored to its former condition within 6 months following the 12 month period.
Installation per plans
The solar panels and base must be installed according to the plans and supporting information and must be maintained as such thereafter.
