Officer's Report
The Site
The site represents the footprint of an existing building which sits on the eastern side of Cherry Orchard Road which runs from Church Road to Bridson Street. The building on the site is a modern pitched roofed structure which is part of a block which stretches almost 25m in length. Between the building and Bridson Street is a rear yard area and car parking to the east of this.
Planning Status
The site lies within an area of Mixed Use on the Port Erin Local Plan of 1990.

Proposed here is the installation of air conditioning apparatus on the eastern elevation at ground level. The two units will be 930mm by 640mm and 850 mm and 750mm and will be positioned alongside two existing electricity and gas meter boxes which are mounted on the rear elevation. Neither new unit will protrude from the face of the building by more than 500mm.
Representations
Port Erin Commissioners indicate that they have no objection to the application.
Assessment
There is a rendered wall which lies to the rear of the building, separating the rear yard from the car parking area and which will screen the proposed units from public view. As such the proposal is considered acceptable.
