Officer's Report
The Site
The site represents the residential curtilage of an existing dwelling situated on the right as one enters Friary Park from the A7 Main Road. The property is a modern bungalow which faces towards the north east.
Planning Status
The site lies within an area designated as Residential on the Arbory and East Rushen Local Plan.
Planning History
No planning applications have been submitted in respect of this site.
The Proposal
Proposed now is the installation on the rear pitch of a solar panel. This will be 2m by 2.1m and 97mm thick projecting from the pitch.
Representations
apc indicate that they have no objection to the application.
Assessment
The installation of equipment which will maximise the use of renewable energy is generally to be encouraged, as set out in the Strategic Plan Energy Policy 4 and paragraph 12.2.8. The panel will be
fitted to the rear pitch which may be visible from the main road through the roadside properties. However, there will be no adverse visual impact from the proposal and it would comply with Energy Policy 5 of the Plan.
Party Status
The Department of Transport and the local authority are, by virtue of the Town and Country Planning (Development Procedure) Order 2005, paragraph 6 (5) (c) and (d), considered "interested persons" and as such should be afforded party status.
