The Site
The application site represents the curtilage of Clear Pharmacy, Orchard Road, Port Erin. The property is a single-storey pharmacy which faces East onto Orchard Road.
Planning Status
The site is located within an area identified as being Mixed Use by the Port Erin Local Plan 1990.
Planning History
There have been no previous planning applications considered relevant in the assessment and determination of this application.
The Proposal
The application seeks approval for the installation of illuminated signage. The signage is brushed silver in design and is the approximate length of the building (10440mm) and 500mm high.
Representations
Port Erin Commissioners have no objection to the planning application. The Department of Transport Highways Division have no objection to the planning application. We have received no privately written representations in relation to this planning application.
Assessment
The proposal is to replace the existing signage with a modern up-to-date illuminated sign. The proposed signage will have no adverse impacts upon the visual appearance of the street and is judged to be a sufficient distance from the neighbouring properties as to not adversely affect upon their amenities.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the application be permitted.

C 1. a) The development hereby permitted shall be commenced before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice. b) Any advertisements displayed, and any site used for the display of advertisements, shall be maintained in a clean and tidy condition to the reasonable satisfaction of the Department. c) Any structure or hoarding erected or used principally for the purpose of displaying advertisements shall be maintained in a safe condition. d) Where an advertisement is required under these Regulations to be removed, the removal shall be carried out to the reasonable satisfaction of the Department. e) No advertisement is to be displayed without permission of the owner of the site or any other person with an interest in the site entitled to grant permission. f) No advertisement shall be sited or displayed so as to obscure, or hinder the ready interpretation of any traffic sign, railway or tramway signal or aid to navigation by water or air, or so as to render hazardous the use of any highway, railway, tramway, harbour or aerodrome.
