Proposal
11 July 2008
08/00879/B
The application seeks approval for the construction of retaining wall with railings to the eastern elevation of the application site. The retaining wall would have a height of 2.4 metres, the railing would add a further height of 1 metre.
Representations
Onchan Commissioners:
- Approve
- Highway Division have no objection subject to the following condition:
- Submission of retaining wall calculations.
The Authority has received no privately written representations objecting to the application.
Assessment / recommendation
The proposal is a minor alteration which will have no impact upon the residential amenities of the neighbouring properties or upon the visual amenities of the street scene. The proposal is very similar to schemes which have already been undertaken by a number of neighbouring properties along King Edward Park. For these reasons the proposal would be appropriate in these locations and therefore the application is recommended for an approval.
Regarding the retaining wall calculations, the application will require a building regulations application to be submitted to the Onchan Commissioners, so this will be dealt with at that stage.
Party Status
It is considered that the following meet the criteria of Government Circular 1/06 and should be afforded interested party status:
