no objection - standard notes on underground cables/overhead lines and electricity supply
proposal welcomed as regeneration long overdue and will enhance the area; disappointing demolition required for viability; suggest condition restricting occupation to employees of Heron & Brearley
Manx National Heritage raises concerns about significant loss of masonry to the Registered Building Douglas Hotel; Manx Electricity Authority requests contact for utilities and safety; individual Andrew Jessopp expresses no objection to the associated proposal.
Key concern: significant loss of masonry forming the east gable on the ground and first floors of the Douglas Hotel
Manx National Heritage
No CommentWe note that the Douglas Hotel is a Registered Building, on account of its architectural or historic interest. We would suggest that its exterior appearance, internal arrangement and fittings (where they survive) and vaulted cellars are of significant importance.; We note that the proposals require significant loss of masonry forming the east gable on the ground and first floors of the Douglas Hotel contiguous with the former IOM Farmers' premises.; We trust that the Planning Committee will take this issue into consideration when making its assessment of the merits of this application before reaching its decision.
