The Site

The application site represents the curtilage of the Isle of Man Water Authority, Drill Hall, Tromode Road, Douglas. The site is located on the eastern side of Tromode Road.

Planning Status

The application site is located within an area identified as being Government Use by the Douglas Local Plan. The site is not within a Conservation Area.

Planning History

There are no previous planning applications considered relevant in the assessment and determination of this application.

Representations

The Department of Transport Highways Division has not commented on this application. Douglas Corporation has made no comment on this application. The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service attaches a note to any subsequent approval. We have received no privately written representations in relation to this planning application.

The Proposal

This application seeks approval for the erection of a smoking shelter and cycle shed to the south and east of the building. These would utilise two existing steel structures previously used for storage purposes.

Assessment

The proposed smoking shelter and cycle shed would be of modest proportions and would be sited so as not to detract from the existing building. The structures would not compromise the amenity of the building and there are no neighbouring properties in the close vicinity. It is considered that the proposal is acceptable and accordingly is recommended for approval.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the application be approved.

It is considered that the following parties, who submitted comments, accord with the requirements of Planning Circular 1/06 and are therefore, afforded Interested Party Status:
