Dear Madam,
Re: Planning Application 07/0229/B - Kewaigue School, Douglas
With reference to the above planning application for the removal of a chimney stack at Kewaigue School, we would wish to draw to your Committee's attention the fact that the roof space of the school is a long-established roost for brown long-eared bats.
Removal of the chimney stack is highly likely to constitute disturbance of this roost and thus contravene the provisions of the Wildlife Act 1990. We would accordingly ask that, should the Committee be minded to approve the application, the applicant be required to consult with D.A.F.F.'s Wildlife & Conservation Office prior to any work being put in hand, as required under the terms of the Act.
Yours faithfully,
D J Blackwell
