Dear Ms Callow

Maughold Parish Commissioners held a meeting to consider planning issues on Monday 23rd July 2007, and would like to submit comment on the following applications:

07/01220/B Ballafayle-E-Kerruish; Erection of an agricultural building, Ballafayle Ltd.

The Commission have no concerns with the structure, size or location of the building itself. They are concerned with aspects of the proposed new roadway. These matters are discussed further along with 07/01270/B below.

07/01270/B Ballafayle e Kerruish; Construction of a Farm road/track; Ballafayle Ltd.

The Commission acknowledge that there may be need to improve access to the two locations as stated in the application. They are, however, very concerned about the impact of this proposed roadway on the landscape and would ask the Planning Officer to consider the following comment:

• they request that a suitably qualified surveyor be engaged by the Applicant to prepare a detailed surveyed plan of any proposed roadway.
• The Commission feel that a new survey should integrate the roadway in to the landscape in a more sensitive manner than proposed in this application.
• Any such engineering works undertaken must be properly integrated in terms of scale, materials and landscaping, and should follow a course that minimises the impact on the visual landscape.
• Features such as trees, stone walls and hedgerows should also be maintained.

07/01287/B Croit ny Meagh, Cornaa, Ext. to side elevation; Mr P. Carpenter, The Commission has no particular concerns with these proposals, and recommends approval. 07/01301/B Lewaigue Cottage, Slieu Lewaigue; Erection of an extension, and roof terrace; Mr & Mrs Shave.

The Commission notes the concerns of the Fire Officer with this application. Other than this issue, they have no concerns with the proposals.

The Commission thanks the Planning Committee for the opportunity to comment on these applications.
