Officer's Report
The Site
The site represents the curtilage of Tower Buildings - the scuba diving school and shop situated on the southern side of Strand Road close to the slip road behind numbers 1, 3 and 5.
Planning Status
The site lies within an area designated on the Port Erin Local Plan of 1990 as Mixed Use.
There have been no applications submitted in respect of this site.
The Proposal
Proposed now is the alteration of a former window to a door. The former window was a curved headed ground floor window and has become a full length plastic framed door. The application is retrospective and came to light after a complaint about decking and work going on at the rear of the property. The decking works were found to comply with the provisions of the Town and Country Planning (Permitted Development) Order 2005 but the works to change the window to a door were not.
Representations
Port Erin Commissioners and Department of Transport Highways and Traffic Division both raise no objection to the application.
Assessment
The change has minimal impact on the appearance of the property and has no adverse impact on the amenities of those adjacent to the site.
Party Status
The Department of Transport and the local authority are, by virtue of the Town and Country Planning (Development Procedure) Order 2005, paragraph 6 (5) (c) and (d), considered "interested persons" and as such should be afforded party status.
