Bettridge Planning Justification Letter
$17^{\mathrm{th}}$ May 2007
The Secretary of the Planning Department Murray House Mount Havelock Douglas Isle of Man
Dear Madam
RECEIVED ON 18 MAY 2007 DEPT. OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND THE ENVIRONMENT
We enclose a copy of a detailed Planning Application to erect an agricultural building on land at Eary Veg Farm, West Baldwin.
We have been mindful of planning policy and have sited the proposal in close proximity to the existing building cluster.
The proposal would be sited on an existing silage hardstand, which has been cut into the sloping field and therefore reducing the visibility substantially. The area is screened by existing mature trees and hedging. Further planting of natural species of trees, bushes and hedging to take place, to provide further screening.
In an attempt to improve the aspect within our farmyard, we propose to remove an unsightly and prominent section of an existing farm building. If successful, the proposed barn would replace floor area lost by this omission.
The primary use of the building will be to provide covered space, essential for organic food production, including rare breeds of livestock.
This building is a necessary part of the infrastructure, allowing the organic farming business to expand in an increasing market place without the problems stalling at a later date.
Farmland owned surrounding the farm unit amounts to 100 acres. Mr & Mrs Bettridge
