Dear Ms Callow
Maughold Parish Commissioners held a meeting to consider planning issues on Tuesday 8th May 2007, and would like to submit comment on the following applications:
07/00657/B Alterations and erection of extensions; Glen Shone.
The Commission is very concerned about the proposals in this application in line with Section 8.12.2 of the Revised draft Strategic plan of April 2007. It is likely that these would have an adverse impact on adjacent property. Several properties ‘nestle’ together in this location, and the second floor extensions are of inappropriate size and proportion.
In addition, there are currently anomalies on the agricultural field immediately below the property which must be investigated before any further development is allowed. The owner reports that a soil report conducted by Government Analysts in July 2006 showed very high acidity and levels of phosphate on his field immediately below ‘Glen Shone’. The plans indicate soakaways to this field’. The Commission request that the Planning Committee stipulate that this matter is investigated before any further development is permitted.
07/00695/B Alterations and erection of a replacement garage with living accommodation above; The Mines House, Corony.
The Commission has no concerns with the proposals in this application and recommends approval.
07/00698/B Installation of solar roof panels and a velux window; Rockside, Ballajora. The Commission has no concerns with the proposals in this application and recommends approval.
07/00712/B Erection of a conservatory; Rockside, Ballajora. The Commission has no concerns with the proposals in this application and recommends approval.
07/00752/B Alterations and erection of extensions; Springfield, Booilushag. The Commission is opposed to this application in line with Housing Policy 17 of the Revised Draft Strategic Plan of April 2007. The increase in height proposed is excessive and will have a highly intrusive impact on one a coastline of exceptional beauty. The current dwelling is non-traditional and the proposals will further increase the impact of the property on the surrounding area as viewed by the public from areas of heritage interest such as Maughold Head.
07/00757/B Installation of replacement windows; 1 Ballagorey Cottage, Glen Mona. The Commission has no concerns with the proposals in this application and recommends approval.
07/00769/B Alterations to redundant farm building to form agricultural storage building; Baldromma Mooar. The Commission notes the content of the agricultural report in relation to this application. There are no concerns with the proposals and approval is recommended.
