Officer's Report

Statutory Consultation Responses
- Ramsey Town Commissioners have no objection
Public Responses
- Press notice were posted on 20.4.06
- Representations have been received from SPMCE,
- SPMCE have made the following comments:
- These two applications are somewhat mixed-up and I don't think all the right documents are complete in each file. However enough detail remains to indicate that the existing windows are not original and are quite un-sympathetic in different ways. Those to be used on the Post Office Lane frontage, in being plain, single-pane types, might just be acceptable but those on the Harbour frontage need a more appropriate design. Other warehouse and ex-warehouse building in Ramsey can offer examples which could be followed and we are not convinced that sliding sashes would be inappropriate.
- The Society OBJECTS to the present scheme.
Issues
- SPMCE have made comment in relation to this application and another application which is for the replacement of window on the front elevation. Since there seem to be content with the windows on side elevation. I shall assume the objection from them relates to the replacement windows on the front elevation.
- The application site is within a Conservation Area. The windows to be replaced are set at a high level within the side elevation. The windows are not readily visible from the public highway.
- Following consultation with the Conservation Officer, it is considered the replacement windows proposed in this application are acceptable for this elevation.
Conclusion
I therefore recommend that permission be granted subject to condition attached in the schedule.
Party Status
I consider that the following should be granted party status due to them being a Statutory Consultee:
