In pursuance of powers granted under the above Acts and Order the Department of Local Government and the Environment does hereby REFUSE the following application made on behalf of:
Name: Allegro Ltd Proposal: Installation of uPVC bottom opening casement windows to replace existing 1st and 2nd floor windows at: 9 Parliament Street & Court Row Ramsey Isle Of Man IM8 1JS
which was considered on 11 November 2005, for the reasons set out below.
Date of Issue: 17 November, 2005 Murray House Mount Havelock Douglas Signature: [Handwritten signature] Secretary Planning Committee Signature: [Signature]
Reasons For Refusal:
- The Planning Committee considers the proposed replacement windows to be unacceptable on the grounds that:
a) the building occupies a prominent position within Ramsey Conservation Area and that as such the use of uPVC bottom opening casement windows would be detrimental to the visual amenity and overall character of the Conservation Area; b) the building is located close to Ramsey Courthouse, which is a Registered Building, and the use of uPVC bottom opening casement windows would be detrimental to the setting of this Registered Building; and c) the use of the proposed replacement windows within a building in a Conservation Area is contrary to the provisions of Planning Circular 1/98 – The Alteration and Replacement of Windows.
- This decision was made by the Planning Committee constituted in accordance with Paragraph 2 of Schedule 1 of the Isle of Man Planning Scheme (Development Plan) Order 1982.
