Officer's Report

The application proposes the erection of a raised and enclosed timber decked area to provide external play space for special needs pupils at Onchan Primary School, School Road, Onchan.

The decking will have a length of 10.8 metres and a width of 5.98 metres. The decking will be accessed from a new opening from the school and by the ramp to the playing fields, both have access for wheelchair users. Surrounding the proposed decking area will be a 1.1 metre high timber fence.

Onchan District Commissioners have considered the application and have recommended approval. The Disability Access Office have commented on the access to the decking needs to accommodate wheelchair users. We have received no private representations for this application.

The proposed decking would seem appropriate in this location and therefore I recommended an approval.
